The Waiting Room: What’s Your Financial Personality? | Parking & Finances

Welcome to The Waiting Room, a place no one really wants to be in but is a necessary evil if you want to get the appropriate medical/financial care.
I hope this latest offering can help you bide the time.
First off the bat is a financial personality quiz.
Are you more like Mr. Mustache or tend to be “The Joneses”?
Answer truthfully and see what the oracle thinks:
When you pull into a parking spot are you typically a person who drives headfirst into the spot or are you the type of driver who takes a little more time and likes to back your car into the spot instead?
I have to say that, whenever I can, my preferred method of parking is to back my vehicle in.
In fact I was pulling into my work parking spot (again backing in) and something just clicked in my head: My parking style is eerily similar to my investing style.
Let me explain.
Reversing your car into a parking spot is a bit of a hassle.
It would be much easier and quicker to drive into the spot head first.
So why do I do it?
When I come in to work, I typically arrive a bit later than my colleagues (ahh the benefit of being a radiologist) so essentially there are no other vehicles to negotiate during my “early” morning maneuverings.
The scene is much different when it is time to leave, with the parking lot much busier as people try to head home.
With my car facing outward, my escape is that much easier compared to the scenario of having to back into potential oncoming traffic.
This in essence is delayed gratification, which is the underlying premise of the FIRE philosophy.
When your investing/financial philosophy starts to permeate into your everyday activities, you know that you have truly adopted the core beliefs.
Are there any daily routine activities that mirror your investing philosophy? If so please add it to the comments below.
Thanks for spending time with me in The Waiting Room.
Hope it wasn’t too painful a wait. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
One of my dear blogging friends, Chelsea from Mama Fish Saves has just launched a wonderful product that I actually purchased on the 2nd day..
She has created a very valuable resource called In Case of Emergency Binder.
It is 92 page PDF file that allows you to organize important documentation so that in case something happened to you, your family will not be left in the dark.
Included in this package are important topics such as:
- Household information
- Key Personal Documents
- Medical Information (including advanced directives)
- Insurance Policies
- Basic Financial Information (Properties, bills, cash accounts, credit cards, debt)
- Employer Information
- Social Media/Website Logins
- Investment Information (Accounts, strategy, what to do with life insurance, real estate, etc)
- Military Veteran benefit and obituary information
- Burial/Memorial Preferences
- Personal notes
- & more
I downloaded my copy and have began perusing it myself but did not want to waste any time in order to share it with you as Chelsea has graciously offered a special promotion price of $19 which ends TODAY (then goes up to the regular price of $29).
Chelsea has done all the hard work and time consuming details so that you don’t have to.
Already I have encountered several sections I would have never thought of on my own but would be extremely beneficial for a surviving love one to have when I am gone.
